When I received the news that two of my films, “A Call For Help” and “Music Box”, were selected to be included in the Pornfilmfestival Berlin…I just knew that I had to go to Berlin and attend my first Porn Film Festival. The festival lived up to it’s reputation of being one of the best to attend…from meeting the amazing curators, schmoozing with film makers and performers, great audience’s and venue, watching my (and others) films on a big screen, and trying to overcome my fear of public speaking, when participating in the Q&A’s at the end of each screening. I’m already looking forward to next years festival, when it celebrates its 10th year running.

I had the wonderful opportunity to participate in Roberto Duran’s new photographic “Erotic Series”. I was asked to define what erotica means to me…”Erotica for me, is less about gender and genitals, and more about the connections formed and shared with a play partner. Using all five senses to explore, experience and enjoy pleasure. Acknowledging, accepting and embracing that I have a dark side to my sexuality.”
Cast, crew, their partners and some friends, gathered mid afternoon on Saturday 2nd August to attend a pyjama themed party to celebrate the completion of Permission4Pleasure’s latest film…’A Call For Help.’ Performers, including myself, smiled bravely but were inwardly nervous as we prepared to watch ourselves perform on a big-ish screen. Viewing over, a collective sigh of relief as we all deemed the film a success, speeches made…all that was left now, was to relax and enjoy the party shenanigans!
On Saturday 26th July, I spent a lovely morning with some amazing women that were invited to participate in The Raw Women Project Challenge…to answer 4 simple questions…on camera…unprompted and without rehearsal. Since I was still new and ‘wet behind the ears’ when it came to producing erotic films…I commissioned Gala Vanting to assist with pre-production work and shooting, and Aven Frey with post-production work of my second film ‘New Tricks’. Together, Gala and Aven are Sensate Films…’an up and coming producer of premium quality, process based erotic media’, based in Australia.

As a first generation Australian female born to European parents, my upbringing focused strongly on how a ‘good woman’ should behave and appear, in private and in public. Becoming a wife and mother was considered to be the ultimate achievement for a woman. Sex and all related pleasures was never discussed but considered as something to learn and conduct in the confines of a marriage.
In 2012, at the age of 47 years and 2 years after leaving my marriage, I decided to embark on my journey of sexual exploration and learning.
It was in 2012 that I first read about Petra Joy, an internationally acclaimed feminist porn film maker, producing “erotic films from a female perspective”. I had an immediate sense that Petra was a kindred spirit, urging me to unshackle my past and giving me permission to release this voice within, that was screaming to be heard. And so my first ever film “Duty Bound” was conceived….writing, performing, producing and submitting the short film into the2012 Petra Joy Awards and ultimately being judged the winning entry.
